Correspondence, scrapbooks, clippings, memorabilia, and photographs relating to Lyford's student years, to her career in public health nursing, first as a staff nurse and supervisor in the Visiting Nurse Association in Minneapolis, Minn., and New Haven, Conn. and as a consultant in maternal and child health nursing for state health departments in San Francisco, Calif., and Des Moines, Iowa (1933-1952), and especially to her teaching career at the University of Iowa (1953-1976). Of special interest are her professional biography and a speech given at the unveiling of the Lillian Wald portrait at the University of Iowa College of Nursing where she stated her views on public health nursing's history and future role. Also included are correspondence and other papers by her mother and father, Addie Crowe and Fred Ray Lyford and her brother, Fred Russell Lyford.
